Do you love the Dread Pirate Roberts? Ever wanted to learn real swordfighting?
In honour of the 30th anniversary of the release of the Princess Bride, the Stoccata School of Defence, Drummoyne will be running an intensive 6 week short course on 17th Century rapier fencing. You too can learn to fence like Inigo Montoya or like the Dread Pirate Roberts himself.
Stoccata is Australia's oldest European Martial Arts School teaching students how to use swords using historical fighting styles in a safe and friendly environment. The school uses modern equipment and teaching methods to deliver a curriculum based on primary historical sources from the 17th centuries. We are not a re-enactment or live-roleplaying group. Rather, we are a modern martial art based on real historical European sources.
All our classes are based on the actual historical texts that outline how to use these various weapons. The classes are led by Provost Richard Cullinan, Australia's premier fencing teaching for historical Italian fencing systems.
This intensive 6 week fencing course will be on Wednesdays, starting 24 May 2017 at the Canada Bay Civic Hall, Drummoyne (9 pm start). Costs are $150 for adults, and $120 for students.
For booking or more information please contact Provost Richard Cullinan.
