
Richard Cullinan first formally studied fencing in 1997 under Peter Linich, Maestro di Scherma. Building on this classical foundation, he branched out into historical fencing systems, and is now the leading researcher and exponent of Renaissance Italian fencing systems within Australia, and recognised internationally for his research in Bolognese swordsmanship.
He has also qualified as an Instructor at Arms in Classical Italian fencing through the Fencing Masters Certificate program at Sonoma State University, California USA.
Richard is the Chief Instructor of the Drummoyne and Rhodes branches, where he teaches various programs based on historical Italian fencing manuals. These programs are:
– Bolognese Swordsmanship (sidesword and with buckler or dagger)
– Italian Rapier Fencing (rapier and with dagger or cape)
– Classical Italian Fencing (duelling sword, duelling sabre, bastone)
– Italian Knightly Combat (wrestling, dagger, longsword, pollaxe, spear)
– 2 Handed Weapons (2 handed sword, partisan, bastone)
