The Asquith branch of Stoccata offers a deep dive into one weapon per term, concentrating on the British fencing systems with an emphasis on the highland broadsword and are led by Provost Michael ‘Grizzly’ Barton.

This year we will focus on the highland broadsword and how it is used with influences from sources such as Andrew Lonnergan, Donald McBane and Thomas Page.

Time is available in classes for freeplay and individual revision.

Time and Place

Classes are on Saturdays between 3:00pm and 5:30pm
1st Asquith Scout Hall
43 Lords Avenue, Asquith NSW 2077

What You Need To Bring

If this is your first class, the only thing to bring is a pair of gloves (simple leather “riggers gloves” are fine). We can supply you with a practice weapon so you can participate.

All regular students will need to bring gloves and should source a helmet, and as soon as possible, their own practice weapon, which will be explained at the class.

Schedule

This year we will look at how to use the broadsword and will look at different techniques you can apply on how to use it!

Terms 3 and 4 will focus on sword and dagger, so we will be taking your broadsword training and adding a big old basket hilted dagger in the other hand… because having a knife in your other hand is always a good idea.
