Stu is a lifelong martial artist with experience in a number of styles of armed and unarmed fighting. He taught and practiced various styles at the home branch before opening his first branch of Stoccata in 2014.
Stu’s areas of study are longsword, rapier, sidesword, smallsword, and sabre.
Stu is a passionate student of learning theory, and his goal is to use the principles of evidence-supported practice design to create experiences for students that build real usable skills via learning activities that are representative of actual fencing. Rote learning and choreographed drills have no place in evidence-based methods of learning.
Stu coaches and runs practice at the Baulkham Hills and Strathfield branches.
